Here's a sneak peak of the show!
Whose Shadow is a collection of original compositions along with Lara's interesting and innovative jazz arrangements of works by such varied artists as Peter Gabriel, Joni Mitchel and Kate Bush. Add some traditional jazz fare along with classical pieces jazzed up and there is something for everyone. Lara sets out on a musical journey, taking the listener willingly along for the ride.
Whose Shadow was lovingly produced by George Koller (Holly Cole, Laila Biali, The Shuffle Demons). His attention to detail and musician's ear help to make any CD a pleasure to listen to. Lara's impressive four octave range and classically-trained control combined with true emotion and openness are sure to give you goosebumps. For the Whose Shadow launch at JazzBistro, George and his bass will accompany Lara as she graces the stage, along with local legend Mark Kieswetter on the gorgeous Steinway and John Johnson of the Boss Brass on saxophones, clarinet, flute.
Jazz Bistro is a stunning venue, with an exceptional chef, gorgeous wines, and attentive staff. The vantage point from anywhere in the restaurant allows you a great view and gorgeous sound. Elegant, yet relaxed, it is the perfect match for the music of Lara Solnicki, and it should be a marvelous night!
I don't know about you, but I can't wait!
Lara Solnicki is “assuredly one of the finest jazz singers to emerge on the Canadian scene recently.” (−Stanley Péan, Host: Quand le jazz est là, Radio Canada)
