In days past, female jazz vocalists ruled the airwaves. That trend is re-surging, and one of the brightest lights on the horizon is Barbra Lica. I recently caught up with Barbra. We talked about her past, the future, marathons, Peter Appleyard and the ‘Scarlet O Hara life’ of a full-time jazz singer.

Them Broads Still Got It!

I have been to see "Broadsway", the remarkable trio of Heather Bambrick, Julie Michels and Diane Leah, twice now. 

Each time there has been a terrible storm of some sort. 

Yet each time, despite that, the house was packed. 

It seems whatever the weather Gods throw their way, the Broads still come out on top!

And The Fifth Caller is.... ME! Live to Air with Jimmy Webb

If you know me, you'll know I'm an avid listener of JazzFm here in Toronto. You'll also know I NEVER win ANYTHING. But this particular time, I was really TRYING to win. Jimmy Webb was to be performing in the Long and McQuade Performance Hall within the JazzFm studios, a small venue, or a large studio, not really sure which description is more appropriate. The ONLY way to attend was to win tickets. And I WANTED to go! I kept calling in during Heather Bambrick's morning show, determined, but unsuccessful.
