Allyson Morris |
This coming Tuesday, at the venerable JazzBistro on Victoria street a stunning lineup of musicians is set to back up the sultry vocal stylings of Allyson Morris. With the launch of her CD ''I Saw The Light'' this past November, Chatham native Allyson is rapidly becoming one of the most sought after vocalists in Toronto and beyond.
"Allyson Morris sings a ballad from the heart. She is an honest performer, and that's very rare these days." Robi Botos
Backing Allyson on keys is the incomparable Robi Botos. If you're a JazzFM devotee like I am, than you are sure to have heard the fabulous feature piece on Robi in the documentary series 'Identities'. Want to know HOW good Robi is? When Oscar Peterson was looking for a piano teacher for his own daughter, guess who he chose. 'Nough said
You can't have Jazz unless you throw in some Bass (at least in my mind!) . And not just any bassist will do when you play at JazzBistro, so Allyson snagged Russ Boswell!
Russ Boswell is an ACTIVE musician. His talents can be seen and heard in every artisitic endeavor you can imagine. Live theatre, movies, touring and recording. All that's left is for someone to paint his portrait. And with his skill I'm sure that's already in the works! He is the base (no pun intended) of any ensemble, solid and COOL.

Now where would we be without a drummer?
Shiraz is the kind of drummer who doesn't just set the beat, but sets the tone as well. He possesses and earthiness that is funky yet tribal and ALWAYS Jazzy. He has played with fabulous people over the years and his name is popping up all over the city at some amazing gigs of all sizes. You are sure to be hearing a lot more about him in the weeks and months to come.
